Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

The controller of your personal data is Jan Karpíšek. This policy explains what data about you is processed when you visit jankarpisek.com, what I use it for and how I protect it.

This site is a portfolio. It has no forms, it stores no cookies in your browser, and it uses neither Google Analytics nor advertising trackers.

2. What data is processed

Server logs. For a page to reach you, the server has to receive the request from your browser and send a response. Every such request creates a log entry: the IP address, the date and time, the address of the requested page, the browser and operating system identification, and the address of the page you came from. If you use the search on this site, the search term forms part of that address and is therefore logged as well.

The content of any message you send me. The site has no contact form. If you write to the e-mail address given below, I process the data contained in your message so that I can reply to it.

3. What I use the data for

Server logs keep the site running, help me fix errors and protect it against abuse. I use the data in your message solely to answer your enquiry.

In both cases the legal basis is my legitimate interest in running the site reliably and securely and in answering your enquiry. I do not use the data for profiling, for automated decision-making or for advertising, and I do not sell it to anyone.

4. Who has access to the data

INTERNET CZ, a. s. (FORPSI) has access to the data as the provider of my web hosting and mailbox, acting as a processor on my behalf. The server logs are created on its servers and the backups are stored there as well.

Cloudflare, Inc. also has access to the data, as traffic to this site passes through its network. It handles content delivery, protection against attacks and traffic measurement, and likewise acts as a processor. With every request it processes the IP address, browser data and the address of the page being opened, and it does so even when you have JavaScript switched off.

Traffic is measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and no other persistent identifiers and does not follow individual visitors across websites; it collects aggregate figures only, on page views, where a visit came from, the type of browser and device, and how quickly the page loaded. Details are set out in the Cloudflare privacy policy.

I do not pass the data to anyone else, except where the law requires it.

5. Cookies

The site stores no cookies or other identifiers on your device. That is also why no cookie consent banner appears. The typeface the site is set in is stored on this server. The only connection outside this site is made by the Cloudflare Web Analytics measurement script, which nonetheless stores nothing on your device.

6. Video and audio recordings

For embedded YouTube videos and Czech Radio audio recordings, a preview image stored on this server is shown in place of the player. Until you start playback yourself, no request goes to the provider and it learns nothing about your visit. Once you do start playback, the privacy policy of Google (YouTube) or of Czech Radio applies.

Links to social networks are ordinary links, not tracking or analytics elements.

7. How long I keep the data

The server logs and the backups are kept by the hosting provider for the period set out in its terms of service; I have no access to them and do not keep them myself. I keep e-mail correspondence only for as long as it takes to deal with the matter in hand.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access to your personal data, the right to have it rectified or erased, the right to restriction of processing and the right to data portability. You are also entitled to object to the processing.

You can exercise these rights at the contact address given below. I will reply within one month at the latest. If your data is held solely in the server logs at the hosting provider, I will handle your request through that provider.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, which in the Czech Republic is the Office for Personal Data Protection, Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Prague 7, uoou.gov.cz.

10. Changes
